About the Project
Haiti has been called a cemetery for money, referring to the corruption within the Haitian government. Fighting an oppressive and unjust history with integrity and love, life and hope are being breathed into Haut-Limbé, Haiti through the Eben-ezer Clinic – a grassroots project set out to make a difference. Their first full-time doctor, Emmanuel Mareus, was born and raised in the community. His holistic work treats body, mind, soul and spirit.
The journey of I Wish it Would Rain began with the desire to support the Eben-ezer Clinic after our family visited Haut-Limbé, Haiti in 2002. From its inception, it has been clear that the book and the story itself were conceived by God for a special purpose. Doubts have often risen regarding my ability to write, market and distribute as an unknown, first-time author but I am continually reminded that this is bigger than a small picture book.
Now, four-and-a-half years later, I am surrounded by piles of this beautifully illustrated story. I am thrilled that children will benefit from I Wish it Would Rain, the two children who receive a hospital visit and medicine at the Eben-ezer Clinic for every book sold and those who read the story.
There are blessings and new levels of understanding that we receive when we are faithful to what God has called us. There is mystery, fulfillment, challenge and joy. The journey and rewards are not yet over.
Thank you for your interest in the Haiti Book Project.
